This was taken after straightening the roof and door after rolling on the trackrod a few years ago. Its not perfect, but it aint bad, roof panels are not easy to repair.

I will try to get some photo's of the mods we did. Gearbox and engine mounts need work to stop the early swing arm suspension car to stop jumping out of gear over the ruff.

She's looking fine. Wonderful old girl :)

Hi Richard, good to see the car out and about again, looking forward to seeing it at Chatsworth, what local events have you got planned if any? Pity you're not doing the rally at SV Blyton on May 9th

At the moment I am just doing a few show events, I hope we get to run at Oulton Gold cup on the rally demo again.

People seem to want the car out on these events as its different and its easy for me to run with minimal crew and minimal costs.

I am tempted to run my new Saab on the mid-wales as the rest of the Saab guys will be out. Love to do the RAC, but its cost and if the event will run at all this year.

As far as i know, the RAC is definately running this year, would be great to see you out on that. Would be good to see you out in the NHRC as well, my mate is official photographer on their events, we're up in Hamsterley on the 10th. Hope to see you out again somewhere.

I have a good photo of us doing an end over end in Hamsterley in about 2003! Its a case of finding a good co-driver that can contribute to some costs and alll the work involved keeping a car going for a season that is stopping me at the moment.

I think i've seen this one at Oulton Park in 2008!!!

Yes, we did the demo at Oulton in 2008. You need to drive on that track, it has glass beads in the surface to make it extra slippy. I would say when it was wet it was like driving on ice, there was more grip on the grass. It was quite funny, if you pulled alot of water on the track you could watch the next car nearly spin as they were not expecting it. I would say it was a bit too slippy in the wet, the only time I got understeer in the Skoda like that on a proper stage was in -4 deg and sheet ice. I was actually using the pot hole under that pile of water to get some turn in to the hairpin, much to the detriment of the front tank guard!

A pic of Richards Skoda in action at Chatsworth on Saturday

It was a bit slippery, thank god I put the gravel tyres on at the last moment. I was talking to the guy in the MG and he had borrowed that car and only driven it on and off the trailer. That explained his entertaining start to our first stage.

It aint that easy on a stage like this. You have cold tyres, brakes and gearbox oil, the only thing you can get up to temp is the engine. I have only driven this car on the road once since last August at Oulton.

Got the normal jokes from the guy interviewing at the start, then hopfully proved that old Skoda's can move a bit.

Was good to see the car in action, and going well, you had the fastest time for a while. Would have come over for a chat but never had a chance to get away from the stage, was a good, but wet weekend.

I remember seeing this skoda in retro cars. Brilliant car! Im hoping to rally a skoda 130rs replica will be happy to join the fight for skoda. I have one question though where did you get a hold of a rollcage?

Cheers

Sorry I didnt see the final question.

My cage was an original rear safety devices cage from back in the day, which has the correct size and thickness of tube . It has then had a front and extra rear parts added. I think you would need to have one made by custom cage or Fabricage, unless you know someone with an industrial pipe bender.

In the uk you can bolt the cage to the roof pillars. I would do this as it make the car handle better and saves the shell if you roll it! (Oooop's I might have done that).

The car should be out at Oulton park for the Gold cup race on bank hol Sun/Mon on the glass beaded rally track. I am going to see if Ray Dale fancies a spin for old times sake.

Which car was in Retro classics?
