No AM reception on aftermarket HU...

Featured Replies

Hi All

Read a few similar posts but none seem to answer my problem specifically enough!

Installed my aftermarket HU, a Kenwood Minidisc which i've had in my two previous cars (Mondeo/Focus).

No AM reception whatsoever! worked fine in the other cars so i know its just a problem with the Skoda (Octavia)

Had it out to check all connections which were fine.

Having withdrawal symptoms from Five Live in the morning. :0(

Is it a Mk2 Octavia?

If so you need a signal booster to enhance the reception.

Mk 1 i think!

03 plate registered June 2003.

I removed the OEM headunit from my old Mk1 Octavia ('04 plate) and replaced with a JVC KD-AVX1 which resulted in no radio reception.

I fitted the aforementioned signal booster such as the one in the link and it was fine on AM and FM Aerial Booster ISO Standard Radio on eBay, also, Other In-Car Ents GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 17-May-09 09:21:10 BST)

It needs a 12v supply which I took from the 12v powered aerial output found in the ISO loom of most aftermarket HUs, t'was a blue wire on my JVC IIRC.

would be very gratefulful if you could tell me the colour of the wire coming from the aerial itself. :-)
