Temp Gauge...to start with

Featured Replies

OK, so i thought I would keep my first post fairly light.....kinda

Temp gauge is iffy, sits just under half way, drops all the way down after a firm prod on the fun pedal...any ideas???? fairly sure it's probably just another faulty sensor.

Now for something that I guarantee has been asked about a thousand times.....

I've got a standard mk1 Octy vRS (black) and looking to start changing a few things. Firstly is the exhaust... i'm looking for something that's got a nice soundtrack when i put my foot down, with a nice rumble when idle, but then doesn't wake my neighbours up at night...like the kretin down my road with a dustbin hanging from his corsa.

Secondly, and more importantly, is the remap. Anywhere in Hertfordshire that can be recommended? prices? expected performance?

Thirdly, black wheels on black car?? I've seen a couple of silver Octys with black wheels and they look rather tasty.

By the way, I lied when I said this post was going to be fairly light.

as for you temp gaugeit maybe the coolant temp sensor they are a commen prob on them i would start there first

Dave,

Are you the guy I had a long chat with outside Halfords in Stevenage a few weeks ago?.

Regarding the temp prob', can i suggest running Vag - com to see what error codes are logged, that will help point to the cause/s.

The water temp sensor (black body varient) is well known for throwing up errors.

Usual fix is replace with the upgraded green body version (takes about 5 mins with a cold engine).

I can run a diagnostic check for you if you like, that would show any logged faults.

Hi Dave

Yes the coolant temp sensor

If it has the black one on , just do it as they are very very common to fail

When my son bought a MK4 Golf , the first thing I bought him was a coolant temp sensor

It can effect the fuelling too , so may be worth doing it

The new green one is 059 919 501A

Get a seal with it too , as has been said replace when engine is cold

The exhaust , we do Milltek

You can get non resonated too , that will give a tad more burbble......

Awesome > Milltek cat-back exhaust for Skoda Octavia 1.8T / 1.9 TDI

There is a link to our web site , so you can get a bit more info

As for remaps

Many many posts on this forum in regards them

Have a look , cheapest is not always the best though......so be aware

Do lots of research in regards where to go

Maybe worth getting some opinions , possibly some drives too , by going to meets etc.

Some offer trials too , that way you can try before you buy

Firstly thanks to everyone for their replies,

Please forgive me for being really naive towards this, but is it a case of buying and fitting the sensor? Do i need to run any form of diagnostics? or simply fit it and drive?
