Bye Bye beloved Fabia VRs

Featured Replies

After much soul searching i have reluctantly decided to sell my Fabia VRs.

It's been ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

In just under four years of ownership - 51,300 miles - it's only had one brake pad replaced, suspension bushes repaired (under warranty), two nice tyres and two new headlight bulbs.

It needs it's Cam belt replacing, two more new tyres soon and i felt it was now or never to trade it in.

A family money policy has matured and left me with £5,000 pounds to put on the cost of what the Fabia is worth in Part exchange.

I have ordered a Mazda 2 Tamura, it's not as fast as the Fabia but seems to be a very nice car, going to get it tomorrow, so it will be a reluctant "goodbye" to the Fabia.

I think i will have tears in my eyes though!

Is it ok if i still post on here without a Skoda?

God, hope i've done the right thing.

what made ya go for one of them mate?

Salesman offered me a good deal, and it should be cheap to run and (like the Skoda) reliable - like the looks and the handling too, going to miss the Fabia VRs so much though.

I hope so, I still am, and mines been gone two years :o ...

write us nice review after a few thousand miles with the mazda

There's loads of people here who still post and don't own or no longer own a Skoda. I don't think there is an ownership qualification, you just have to be an enthusiast:thumbup:

Mazda 2 looks like a great little car and quite lightweight too I hear. From what I have read the handling is excellent so while it won't be as quick in a straight line, you will have loads of fun on the bends. Is it a 1.3 or 1,5 engine you've gone for?

Hi, it's only the 1.3! Felt pretty quick on the test drive, although no-where near VRS pace - very nice handling (on TOYO tyres!)

Very nice and comfortable though, and it's a bit of a looker. Hopefully it'll prove to be as reliable as the Fabia Vrs.

Yes you will definately miss the vRS ( even if it wasnt mapped).

From the front it looks like a Pug, you havent foto shooped a piccy have you and posted ;)

Good luck with the new car ( as you can see i no longer have a Skoda but still here )

.

The Mazda 2 is a nice looking car, was behind a couple today.

Yes, they're very nice inside too, liking it so far, although it doesn't match the thrill of the Fabia Vrs.

i think i prefer the looks of the fabia vrs to that me thinks :rotz:

Well, our Fabia vRS is going next week :( To be replaced with a MKII Fabia sport :) After the wife

turned down a BMW for a company car )

It must have been a hard decision!! Good luck with your Mazda tho... Still a lovely looking little thing, I was tempted to get one a while back, but the VRS had a stronger pull!!!

Thanks, it was a VERY hard decision, Mazda 2 is very nice though, but - you're right - it lacks the pull!

The ex-wife's got a Mazda 2, nice little car, she's had it 2 yrs never missed a beat and scrubs up well. Aren't the residuals quite good as well??????????

Mazda's are safe cars, with japanese bullet proof reliability ( despite ford having a major stake). Although one of my neighbours had a mazda 6, and just could not sell it, he ended up trading it in and got really rubbish price ( this was a while ago ).

Good luck with the Mazda 2, for the record I would happily take a Mazda 3 MPS as a replacement car for my vRS

Good to hear, i'm enjoying the Mazda 2 so far, although i can't get the hang of the clutch, it seems a bit "vague" - does your ex-wife manage with hers alright?
