Liquid Gauge Location

Featured Replies

I'm seriously considering getting a liquid gauge. However, I'm not sure whether to get the new 'vent insert' kit, or just get the gauge and knock up something for the ashtray cubby. I really like the idea of having the gauge at vent height, but I'm not sure about blocking up one of the vents and having the gauge on show to 'window shoppers'.

Has anyone on here got one of the vent insert kits (the new one, not the replacement vent)? I believe you remove the vanes from your vent. Is this easy and can you get them back in if you take the gauge out again? Also, if you change your mind about location and you've bought a vent kit, is it possible to easily take the gauge out of the insert?

I'm looking at these again but would like a separate a aux out so the signal can be taken to a screen to show the data on a 7" screen.

I put mine in my ashtray with a handmade panel to hold it. I did cut off two of the tabs from it though to make it fit, which I think means I can't now fit it into a vent if I want to.

So if you have to cut off any tabs to fit it in the vent then you might have problems fitting it anywhere else (nothing to put screws through)

You could buy a spare vent so if you take it out you can just swap the vents over rather than having to re-fit the vanes which is a fiddly job.

I'd go for the vent option as the gauge will easily viewable and accessable. You can always make a cover to hide it from view.
