key fob resync ?

Featured Replies

hi all im ne to the forum and i got a question about my key fob.

if it helps ive got a 2004 skoda oct est not sure if its a 1 or 2

my main key i use stopped working so i thought i would get a new battery which i did after putting the new battery in i cant get the car to lock or unlock using the main fob it lock manually locks the car. and it starts it to so im guessing i just have to resync it with the car ?

i have the second key and that works fine.

I HAVE TRIED

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver’s door lock.

Manually lock the driver’s door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

but still wont work do i have to take it to the dealers ?thanks for any help

Try this, not quite the same as you have tried;

You need to open the car and drivers window (just in case it all goes wrong).

Put the key that will start the car into the ignition and turn it on, but do not start it.

Close drivers door and lock with the key.

Press the unlock button on your new three button key and hold for a few seconds.

Unlock door with key.

Turn off ignition.

Remote should now work.

Don't press the button again until you have turned the ignition off and retrieved the other key.

You have got the battery in the right way around haven't you?

thank you for your response i only have a two button key and both start the car both lock the car but only 1 locks the car remotely.

this is how i was doing it

i opened the window just incase lol then put the key that unlocks the car remotely into the ignition two turns up so its all on lights on dash board showing.

i then get the key that dont work and lock the car via the drivers door i push the unlock once wait a couple of sec then i press it twice then remove the key in ignition and then try to unlock the car via the set in the door and nothing. i have also tried to hold the set that dont work for 1 minute until it unlocks the car but it dont work that way either.

i have try the last steps both ways ie remove keys from ignition pulled out set in door whislt remaining lock and tried to open nothing

removed keys from ignition then unlock the drivers door via the set in the lock then tried remotely but still nothing ?

i think this will have to be an unwanted try to the dealers.

Just checked in my handbook, what it says is

* Press any button on the remote control

* Pressing of the button means that the door will unlock with the key within 1 minute.

although it's not worded very well I would assume that this means you have to press and hold the button on the key fob until the door(s) unlock which could take up to a minute.

I've never had to do it so can't say for sure

Kiosk, I think you're in the wrong part of the manual. When you use the remote unlock button it unlocks the car for 60s after which it relocks, unless open a door first.
