Mirrors

Featured Replies

I recently changed from a my06 L&K to a my08 L&K.The 06 had a black plastic border on the rear view mirror glasses, presumably to reduce wind noise?

The 08 is without the the border and I've noticed a significant increase of wind noise at motorway speeds eminating certainly from the drivers side mirror.

Any thoughts?:thumbdwn:

The 'old type' L&K had auto dimming door mirrors hence the thin black plastic border surrounding the mirror glass.

The 'new type' L&K has done away with the auto dimming mirrors and they have been replaced with blue tinted non dimming mirror glass.

Seeing as the mirror glass itself isn't directly exposed to the airflow around the car I wouldn't have thought it would affect wind noise, Is the colour coded mirror cover fixed correctly? the small gap at the base of the mirror can generate wind noise at speed.

They're not auto-dimming on the later L&K?!:eek:Is this an upgrade?

I know the previous mirror glass was expensive to replace as I learned when I incurred a breakage(circa 165 quid just for the glass!);photochromic mirror glass apparently.

Could the high replacement cost be the reason why they've discontinued?

No auto dimming rear view or door mirrors!

No,My reg 09 def has auto-dimming rear view interior mirror;still feel a bit short changed though!

Would have told the dealer to swap the glasses from my old L&K had I known-maybe I still can.:rotz:
