Remap done!!!

Featured Replies

Well, last Thursday I sneaked out of the house under pretence of a work meeting and made my merry and deceitful way to Tunbridge Wells to All Tech garage. An Angel Tuning remap, Whiteline adjustable RARB and a Powerflex dogbone bush awaited. :D

After an uneventful drive down there, I arrived and bombarded Steve with questions. I left reassured and got a Maccy D's and read the paper. After an hour there, I went up the road to TK Maxx and bought a nice new shirt and pair of Police shades for £30 instead of £120 so already things were slotting into place

After about 2 and a half hours Steve called to say it was done. Now I was nervous (especially after reading the JCB thread about Custom) but Steve reassured me again that nothing was wrong and the car felt really good. He suggested I might need a new MAF soon, but everything else was fine.

So, I start it up and JESUS!!!!!!!!! It sounded like they'd put a V8 under the hood instead of just some new ECU code. But then I realised – the dogbone bush. :o

It's made the cabin sound like an Aston at low revs. Sweet!

Anyway, I got on my way and after a couple of miles, on a nice clear bit of road, I dropped a gear and opened the throttle…

What a difference it's made :D:D:D It just pulls so much more… and more smoothly… and for longer. On the motorway, overtaking was a pure pleasure because the power was just always there.

I went to Wiltshire at the weekend and on the twisties round Chippenham to Bristol the Whiteline came good. The car feels so much more planted. It really is like having a new car. And the dogbone has definitely made gear changes slicker.

The only downside is that now I want to go out every night and have a brisky but I can't due to parental responsibilties and a mountain of work.

Roll on Saturday when I'll get an hour off to 'test' it again :D:D

Anyway, it's early days but Angel Tuning gets a big thumbs up from me so far.

Thanks for listening…

my merry and deceitful way to Tunbridge Wells

ROFL

Good to hear it's going well. How much did they charge? And was it generic or custom? I always thought about getting mine done at Impossible in Canterbury but if they do it cheaper in Tunbridge Wells then that's a bonus :)

nice one mate

have funnnn

I'm gonna tell your SWMBO:P........

Not really, I want to sneak out too some day and get a custom map :o.

glad it all worked out well for you matey!!

Can i be rude and ask how much this was?

Can i be rude and ask how much this was?

That's not rude – it's all about helping fellow Briskodians with useful info :D

The generic remap was £325 and they charged me £50 to fit the dogbone bushes and the Whiteline. £375 well spent in my opinion

I've been weighing this up for months and months and settled on Angel, originally because they were going to come to me but SWMBO cancelled her trip so I had to cancel as well :thumbdwn:, but also because I spoke to Nigel at Angel and he let me bend his ear for half an hour and talked me through it all, and sounded like a good bloke who knew what he was talking about.

I probably could have got more power somewhere else (AMD in Essex promised +60bhp but were going to charge £575 for the map and fitting the bits so finances decided that one).

I thought of a Superchips map but they were only offering +20-30bhp. Angel claim to have got me a +40bhp but I haven't had it on a rolling road. It feels good though, so that's enough for me :D Although, I could just fit a… NO! I MUST SHOW SELF-RESTRAINT

Everywhere else was a bit too far out. Ideally, I would have gone to Unit 22 but it's a bit too far from me. Sorry Lummox :o

Anyway, here's to Skoda's and all the joy they bring

Angel are all over the place but I think Star Performance are up your way aren't they? They've had some good write-ups. I could be wrong of course (please see last post)

With just a remap? As Gerry would say they're "having a bubble"!

Although, I could just fit a… NO! I MUST SHOW SELF-RESTRAINT

If you're Kent or E.Sussex/Surrey based you're welcome to borrow my Liquid Gauge. Just make sure you have a nice safe test track for any dyno runs

what is thei Liquid gauge thing??????

And must cost a fortune to connect in, does look well cool though

And me :rofl::rofl::rofl:

And must cost a fortune to connect in,

doesnt cost a fortune to connect in but I have heard that it has a serious effect on fuel economy :D:D:D

My fuel economy has stabilised now but in the early days mpg did go down quite a bit, I guess the adaptive ecu recalibrates for it after a few weeks :D

Could be also the affect of booting it all the time to see a live result
