Problem with remote control locking

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI from 2003 that I now have problems with the alarm and remote control locking on.

This started one day for a few months ago when I came to the car and tried to unlock, but it was not working with the remote control. In the end, I could unlock the car with the key in the door and then the alarm started to beep. I started the car and drove away with alarm beeping. The beep sound stops after about 45 seconds and the flashing after a few minutes and then of course the same problem occurs when you open the door again to go out of the car. Finally, I managed to find the fuse for the alarm and put it away from the fuse holder. After a few days the remote controller worked suddenly and I was able to unlock without using the lock in the door. I put back the fuse in the alarm to "turn of the alarm". It worked a few days until the same error occurred again.

Now the remote control has not worked for a few months and the car is still 'alarmed' but the fuse is not in the fuse holder. It feels a little frustrating when this does not work ... especially when you have acted food and comes with 4 full bags with food and must go around the car to unlock the door. The car is from 2003 and I have many friends who have cars that are much older than that, not Skoda, and their remote control is working fine. For me, it feels now as if it would be a luxury or optional to have this feature.

I have been in contact with my Skoda Workshop who read by a computer to find errors but unfortunately there is no error in the diagnosis they receive. They have also programmed the two keys and it doesn’t work.

I have also been in contact with the company that installed the alarm (Carguard) when the car was new and they think it is something with the steering box to the remote control receiver.

I have also checked all fuses and central locking seems to be the same as the inner light and it works great.

I get so tired of these bull**** problems so it may be almost like to just send down the car in the river and buy a new one. You do not have time to screw down the entire car and hope that you will find the problem when you do not even know where to look.

Is there any electronics in the doors that have something with the central locking?

I have discovered that there is much water in the threshold at the driver's door when it is raining ... It is flowing down the window so I don’t know if it could be something with it. It could perhaps be a cable that is broken in the cables at the door hinge? Where is the remote control receiver placed?

Does anyone have any idea on what can be wrong or have had something similar to this problem or anyone who find a solution on this problem?

"there is much water in the threshold at the driver's door when it is raining ..."

I think you may have identified the cause of your problem - water under the carpet gets into the wiring and can give lots of different problems, associated with central locking, lights, alarm. (So your alarm was not fitted at the factory?) You need to lift the carpet, in the left front footwell, and check for water. This is a known problem with the Passat/Superb and is covered in some detail in this forum, and others. Do a search for Convenience Unit or Pollen Filter Seal.

Hello

Last weekend I decided to get to the bottom of this problem.

First I started with removing the battery terminals at least 10 min because I read that this could clear the central unit but it did not work. The only thing that happened was that I no longer get contact with my stereo without the need of a four-digit code that I can not find anywhere. I think it will cost me a couple of money to get it from Skoda Workshop.

Then I mounted down the half of the instrument panel and the carpet under the driver's seat and took me in to the "black box" with Convenience Unit sitting under the carpet. I have read that it can be damp and easily become oxides on the contacts so I took apart and could not find anything wrong or no tendency to oxides so I checked all the cables as best I could, but it's so much cables so you don't know what cables goes to what. Unfortunately, I found nothing wrong so I visited a friend who has a USB cable that can read the cars memory and got the following error message:

01,330 - Convenience Unit (J393)

53-10 Supply voltage too low - Intermittent

01179 - Incorrect Key Programming

35-00 --

and also something about the stereo speakers ...

00,668 - voltage clamp 30

07-10 Signal Low - Intermittent

00,878 - linkages to the speakers front left

44-10 - Short circuit - Intermittent

00,879 - linkages to the speakers front right

44-10 - Short circuit - Intermittent

00,880 - linkages to the speakers rear left

44-10 - Short circuit - Intermittent

00,881 - linkages to the speakers rear right

44-10 - Short circuit - Intermittent

Does anyone had similar problem or have any further hints on what may be the error that causes

this problem?

I might just be able to help you here, it's a long shot so it might not be the solution, but try to get a meter to test the alternator output, and battery condition, iirc your car is 4 years old now? the manual advises to replace the battery at 4 years.

I'm telling you this because a few weeks back I had the alternator light on, I replaced the alternator with a recon unit and it lasted 6 hours before the light returned, I got another alternator and was loaned a new battery, this solved the problem and although my old battery would start the car fine and appear charged by way of the magic eye I think it was dragging the alternator's out by making them run flat out trying to keep the charge up, as you are having electrical gremlins a new battery might be a good place to start, with the radio code, if you leave the unit on for a short time the ecu should recognise it and automatically restore it, the code iirc is there incase someone steals the radio and tries to use it in another car, I'm almost certain the radio is paired to the car, hth.
