Question - NCD Expiration on Motorcycle Insurance?

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm not sure if you do Motorcycle insurance or will know the answer but I wondered if I could ask you a quick question?

My last full years NCD was accrued on a policy that ran out at the end of April 2007. I took out a short term month long policy in May 2008 - How long does a NCD last and will it be from the last full years policy or the short term one? Or, lastly, will it depend on the company?

Cheers in advance, Luke.

luke.

just recently sold my bike and just letting the policy run out in june.

my broker is a close friend and he advised me to leave it as the ncd is current for 2 years on a bike , giving me the longest gap to decide if i want to replace it.

hth

Two years is what most companies work to , but if you are of a reasonable age and haven't been crashing it often doesn't make much difference to the price of a new policy in a few years time.

Thanks for the replies.

I dropped an email to the company who provided my short term cover last year and they confirmed that my NCD would last 2 years from when they last insured me - which is good news. I had 4 yrs NCD without any accidents - well nothing reported anyway!

They also said some companies will take a 3 year lapse too but not many.
