I've just purchased a Sony CDXGT220 Radio CD player for the Fabbi.

Have any members encountered fitting issues (Harness/adaptor etc) with aftermarket units?

I have the installation instructions,but know that these things have a tendancy to be fiddly.

Any of your comments, gratefully received.

You`ll need a face plate to reduce the size from the std one to a din size hole. But apart from that, its plug and play, just the usual stuffing the wires somewhere when fitting it in.

This has been covered 500 times previously, but:

• swap red and yellow wires over (constant live and ignition) in the sony loom (they should have bullet connectors). No wiring harness needed
  
• you'll need a fascia from skoda, they cost about £2.30 and are normally in stock. Can get nasty third party ones but the skoda ones much better
  
• If you want to use the radio you'll probably need an aerial amp like: Autoleads PC5-52 VAG Group 'Bee-Sting' Aerial Interface £10.40 including VAT. PC552. Buy discounted car audio online at In-Car Express
  
• Theres not much room behind the stereo, so get cable jamming
  

Some systems I've seen fitted have the power ariel cable in the wrong place and can cause problems with the ECU! Same with the illumination cable too!

Seen it on a Kenwood and a few Pioneers. But not often and they tend to be the older models!
