02 Octavia 1.9 tdi strange noise/power loss

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having had this problem on this vehicle for 6 months and changed n75 valve and air mass meter to no avail went to skoda garage to be told the turbo was knackered and a replacement was £1000+ with fitting i nearly fell over.At 59,000 miles i was not best pleased.Knowing that the variable vane turbo is prone to sticking i got in touch with midland turbo, who cleaned it out for just over £200 and it goes like a dream now.so anyone out there having the same problems and have gone down the same route changing things, get the turbo cleaned out they get full of soot even at low mileages :thumbup:Hope this may help.

How did they clean it? Removal, or done in suitu?

I had the same with mine, new MAF and then N75 and then was told turbo. I had mine changed else where but starting to suffer again :-( 60k+ on from the new turbo being fitted.

hi just had the turbo changed on my octavia 1.9tdi 2004 it had only done 54000 asked for the old one back have you got contact details where you sent your turbo as i will send mine to get cleaned out and as this is a common fault i will have a spear to put on if the new turbo goes bing bong also any idears how to keep the vains on the turbo clear do you drive it hard or just once in a while do you give it a thrashing thanks for reading rinky

The turbo was removed and sent to Midland turbo in nottingham Tel--0115 9752458 it was stripped and cleaned and came back looking like new.Running like a dream now.Give them a try.I don't think it matters how you drive them hard or steady once the soot build up is there it get progresively worse and then causes the problem.
