The Fabia is a fine car that has no more "faults" than any other car. It's not the best handling car but it was never going to be with mr 1.9 6 speed up front (It can be tweeked to be quite good at a modest cost)

The Octavia is not a superior car, thats like comparing Heinz tomoto sauce with tescos. It's not really fair to compare them as they both acheive different things in different ways although I have no doubt this thread will drag the Fanbois out of the woodwork... However if you have no original reason to swithc then don't because you don't "really" want to

If you need resonable performance economy and something that doesn't look like a taxi then your onto a winner. It's not really going to be faster than a Octy out of the box and if your not used to driving a diesel then you need to get used to it to get the most out of it (At which point they can be made to almost fly

Continually doing more and more miles and i want a fun more ecnomical car i guess and Fabia is good as i want to spend under 6k

Economy and chuckability. I know the Fabia's got a big load of pig iron stuck out the front, but it's still a lot shorter so is better for urban driving IMO. Especially with a Jabba RARB.

Octy vRS is loads faster but the economy is way off what's possible if you're careful in the Fabia.
