buying advice for a skoda novice wanting a octavia vrs

Featured Replies

hi all,

i'm currently thinking about buying a vrs but know very little about them and what to look for really.

the one i'm looking at and seriously thinking about at the moment is a 2002 52 plate in silver, 2 owners, full service history, 74k and in a good condition for the year imo, has had paint on the n/s/r 1/4 but have looked over it and over it and there are no signs of any damage so i'm thinking it's been scratched at some point but then is is 7 years old now.

it's up for just short of 4k which i know isn't exactly cheap but then i've seen a lot dearer out there too?

would like some advice of anything i should especially be looking for on the car or any common areas of fault with them.

also i don't know if the timing belt has been changed, when are they due and should i be trying to get it thrown into the deal.

thanks in advance for any help

john

A belt change is around £300 with Awesome and if can't prove its been done then needs to be asap...

(usually done at 60k iirc)

And 4k is a bit steep.... specially if its had accident damage... (have you HPI checked it???)

Usuals... look through paperwork to see it all tallys up ... bolsterwear... panel gaps etc...

oh and go in the search tabs and advanced search and type vrs buying advice under the octavia 1 tab...

plenty of results there to help

:)
