Convince me to keep it!

Featured Replies

I keep having thoughts about buying a BMW 1 series to replace my vRS, reason being is i like the £35 quid road tax on the newer 118d's and im finding my Fabia a bit dodgy on the build quality and fancy something a bit better put together, convince me im doing wrong!

Nah I'd have a BMW 1 series over the fabia if I had the money.

Sorry.

Well, first off, I think the fact that you are asking this question shows that deep down, you want to keep it!

Do you need a new car, or is this a flight of fancy (in which i often indulge) because you've had the furby a while and fancy a change? I guess from looking at your sig that you have taken the vRS pretty much as far as it will go without spending serious cash!

IMO the road tax doesnt really come into it - £35 bmw, £125 vrs, so the saving is less than £10 a month.

One of the reasons I wouldn't change from the vRS, is the look on other people's faces when you cruise past them, or thrash them off the line - being such a Q car, people tend to ignore it/write it off (though i'm not sure this happens with yours!).

I guess its the schizo nature of it I love the most...pootle round, huge mpg, or cane it round, still VERY impressive returns.

Basically, down to you though!

Best of luck with the decision

I think you would miss the fun and performance of the car, I've got to admit I quite like the 1 series as well but the cost puts me off and I think I would miss my Fabia so much.

or thrash them off the line

I had a 54-plate 120 Auto for a while as a hire car- for about 6 weeks. I quite liked it at first but liked it less as time went by, and was very glad to get my A3 back. It wasn't that quick, it was thirsty, the back seats were a joke, the front seats gave me backache, Oh, and no-one lets you out, and everyone wants to race you. It gets tiresome. I did a lot of miles in it- holiday in Scotland, which made the economy even more hard to put up with- 30mpg was the most you could get :(

On the plus side, it was *very* well built, and handled very well indeed. I think a 120D or 123D with the sports seats would be a lot better.

A 1 will cost you though. Lets not forget that the Fabia is an excellent blend of economy, practicality, and performance for not a lot of money.

Couldn't agree more, I love taking people for a hoon, then telling them my MPG over the last 3k miles.... brilliant!

@Yegnold:

LOL:rofl: Wouldn't wanna do that now....

Keep the vRS man. You buy a 1 series people will think you only bought it because you couldn't afford the 3 series. Haha!

driving a mk4 diesel Ibiza, I'd much rather have the 1 series, but it'd have to be a 123d coupe or a 135i coupe :D
