Fix for a VRS sounding like jet taking off on cold start

Featured Replies

I discovered that the Secondary Air Pump does make a sound for 90 seconds on a cold start but if it sounds like a plane taking off like mine did take a look at this easy, very cheap fix

Step-by-step guide for repairing the Secondary Air Pump (with pictures) - uk-mkivs

Before I found this link Skoda offered to replace the pump for £400+; the pump costs £285+VAT!! There was nothing wrong with the pump, just the 6 rivets holding the thing together had eroded!!

Cost me £5 to fix!

'Albo' the author of the above step-by-step link is now my hero!

You should frequent this forum a bit more that link has been posted and used several times. Glad its sorted.

I need to get round Ant's sometime and help him fix his, I'd forgotten about that guide! The pictures are very handy too

I was just about to ask WTF is it and what does it do, but I read down that thread and someone explains it. Does a Diesel have one? I guess my Furby will not have one.
