vrs serviced+new brakes

Featured Replies

I got my vrs serviced lastweek at 30k. Plus had fitted new brakes(front skoda discs+pads). labour charge was £140 inc vat for the service+brakes fitted.

the service included airfilter, fuel filter, oil+filter change, complete coolant change to G12++

I did a 200 mile trip over the weekend and brakes bedded in and stopping is so much more assured now.Plus the discs look cleaner and there's no grooves in it(currently)

I bought all the parts myself using either skoda or mann parts.

was the £140 i paid for it in labour a reasonable price?

another question...i know this has been done to death

but what are peoples opinions on the pd160 intake and/or a "performance" air filter(panel/cotton/foam)

My opinion is that would it not be more economical to buy a new air filter(oem) and just change it every 5-10k rather than spend £40 on a green cotton,k&n,piper? and then have to go through the process of cleaning and reoiling the green cotton or k&n every 5k? i've read here that the performance filters need re-oiling(except the PiperX) and if u put too much it can duff the MAF?

And although these performance filters let in more air(manufacturer claim) they actually arnt very good at filtering out the finer particles and get clogged easily. I change the paper air filter every 6 months regardless of miles and have to say the last couple of times its been done, the old filter doesnt look that dirty at all. Is that a good thing?

Is this true?

If i'm to benefit from a simple performance mod am i better off putting on the Pd160 intake and trumpet, keeping stock air filter and getting a stage one revo map?

thanks

the labour charge of £140 for all that work seems pretty reasonable

if you change the air filter that regulary, then there shouldn't be a problem using the PD160 pipe and having a remap done
