Fabia Projector HID headlights

What do you think to these, is the dipped beam ok to pass MOT if it's on the inside as shown on the picture? rather then being in the middle?

They apparently come in RHD too...

If the MOT tester twigs they are Xenon then unless you have headlamp wash and working self-levelling then you will fail the MOT. The RHD beam pattern is the least of your worries. They do come with the adjuster motors so all you need is the rear axle sensor, the bits of the wiring loom and a new front bumper with washer jets. I reckon £700 would do it properly.

Lmao I'm such a noob, so that's what those little square "lumps" are underneath the headlights on vRS bumpers, the headlight washers, I thought it was part of the styling  doesn't look like I'll be able to get a pair for my car then :/ the projector headlights look a LOT better than the standard ones.

You can definitely get them, and you can get a vRS bumper, buy the 5 liter spray tank & the rear axle already should have the bracket to fit the levelling sensor.

Worth dropping U18 a line, as Ross did this kind of thing during the conversion of the no-longer-mine-vRS estate ;)

A retro fitted genuine Xenon light (slightly modded) for reference.

And the front sensor, and the control unit(s). The control units for the octy mk1 are £360ish+ each... and there are two. The axle sensors are about £55 each, and again there are two. I can see the looms being expensive too. Not worth the hassle IMHO.

The same company also do a straight projector lamp in RHD form, so you don't need the washers or self levelling. The thing to do is to contact Lummox at Unit 18 and ask him what it would all cost. It's probably way less than my predicted £700, but Ross (Lummox) has actually retrofitted some, so he would know the work involved.

I've had lengthy e-mail discussions with Auto Luxe and the adjusters (motor control units) are included. You just need the rear axle sensor (there is only 1) and the headlamp washer system (including the front bumper) and the wiring harness and you're away (he said nonchalantly:rolleyes:).

Only one sensor on the Fabia.

So, none of the headlights offered by that ebay seller or these:

Skoda Fabia Angel Eyes projectors - JDM BLACK : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com

will actually just swap for the standard fabia (not vrs) ones?

I know im being stupid, but i really dont follow this thread lol ive changed a few standard headlights out for angel eyes on other cars and had no mot problems at all.

Thanks

Angel eyes are not an issue as log as they are for rhd. The issue comes with Xenons.

Oh right, i thought xenons were just the better bulbs, obviously not lol

The factory fit Xenons were probably the best value option on the list - for £500 you got over £1500+fitting's worth of parts. By law Xenons have to come with self-levelling and headlamp washers so they are pretty funky bits of kit.

Autoluxe also do RHD angel eyes with projector dipped beams and you could put an aftermarket xenon bulb kit into that and as long as you used a 4300K bulb you'd probably get away with it at an MOT. Worst case scenario - you'd have to put an H7 bulb in there for the MOT.

From what was posted in this thread it looks like Autoluxe Xenons are just projector lamps with a Xenon bulb kit added-on.

It may also be a warning that the guy ordered RHD lamps from Autoluxe and got LHD ones instead. Let's hope it was a genuine mistake.

Ahh right that looks like the best option then, i was looking for angel eyes really. I dont understand the headlamp washers really, is this because of the temps that the lights reach or something? i understand the levelling, so drivers arent blinded by the lights.
