Bonnett Release Nightmare

Featured Replies

My bonnet release handle eventually snapped off a few weeks back and I got a new handle from the dealers today, thought this would be the trick but it won't grip the release pin enough to let me open it. Am going for a weeks moutain biking in the wilds of the Highlands tomorrow and need to get the bonnet open to check the fluids and change the filters. Is there any other way of opening it or will epoxy resin be the ticket? Cheers

Knew I had to replace mine thanks to my mate ripping the bloody thing off after he test drove it when I went to buy it, a new bonnet release handle wasn't enough to walk away from buying the car! Part was about £5, labour was about £40, won't be going back to that dealer. Would of thought they could of left the labour charge off considering they were doing a £800 service at the time!

I wouldn't glue your new handle on, seems like you need to replace the socket too.
