1.9TDi Standard Tyres - 195/65/15V

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good tyre for a normal 1.9TDi (ie not the VRs).

I have searched 10 pages now on tyres and see lots of praise for the Toyo T1R and the Goodyear F1, I dont think they make the Toyo in the size I want, havent checked the Goodyear.

I have looked on Blackcirles and Etyres (who seem more expensive than BC again).

Considering the Toyo Proxes CF1 or Goodyear Excellence.

I mainly want something that grips in the wet and is quiet on motorways. My current Dunlop SP200 start spinning in 2nd gear when its wet and I have to drive very cautiously.

Any advice ?

I am using Falken F452 (205 55 r16 v rated) on my 110TDi, and they seem to be reasonable alround tyre, and last for about 30k on the front.

I'm running Kuhmo KU31's alround, had them probably 10K plus and wear is good, expecting 25-30K from the fronts. Road noise is pretty quiet, and they grip well too :)

Just put some Semperit tyres that are made at the Conti factory on my 1.9TDI.

Paid about £48 per tyre fitted and they came with a free replacement warranty.

Done over 1000 miles on them and they seem fine in the wet or dry.

Use to run Fedral SS595's on the astra and can thoroughly recommend them as a decent tyre. Also Avon ZV5's are quite good too, although they wouldnt last as long as the federal.

Kumho take some beating, very good grip and more importantly on the octy very good ride. Under -rated tyre.

I put 2 Toyo CF1's on in the end - they feel ok, but its hard to compare against anything else really other than the worn tyres that were there before!

Vredestein Ultrac or Sportrac. Should be about £55 each fitted from your local independant. I couldn't get Vredesteins once fitted Hankook on the front wet weather grip was awful.

Good call; I had Proxes CF1s on my old car, and they made a positive difference to it.

I run the Kuhmo KU31's on my 205/55/16 wheels and they're great, not sure if they come in your tyre size though. If your happy with what you currently have why not replace them with the same?

I've got Toyo Proxes CF1's on my estate, all round. They are quite an improvement on the Goodyears I had before, nice and grippy, quite a bit quieter and seem to be wearing well.
