New car help!

Featured Replies

Hi!

I picked up my new car on Saturday - 57plate Sprint Yellow Vrs TDi with 15k on the clock. Ive only drove it 14 miles and have the "particle filter" light on the dash along with the engine managment light. Ive followed the guidance in the manual, but there still on :thumbdwn:

Ive done a search on here and it seems to be a re-accuring problem with these cars. Is there any fix or is a trip back to the dealer?:rotz:

I'd take it back to dealer and let them fix it.

It would also be wise to ensure the 26E6 update has been carried out. It should be in the service booklet somewhere.

Yes could be the exhaust pressure sensor update needing done. Dealer should sort it no probem under warranty. Although you'll probably find that the lights will go out 1 mile before you arrive at the dealers...lol

I'm sure you'll love your new motor once it's in full health.

Whats the 26E6? I`ve never herd of it!

Basically it's a service fix that addresses the early concerns experienced with the PD engine with the DPF (diesel particulate filter). It's a free fix that includes an ECU remap and replacement of a sensor. As I understand it, it doesn't completely cure your getting the DPF warning light, but should reduce the incidence of its occurring in most circumstances. As the dtsev says, should be entered in the service book if it's been done. But, if you telephone any dealer and give them your chassis number, they should be able to tell you anyway off the central database.
