Any ideas please on how to get the lighter socket out of the centre console?

I want to get it out to take a power lead off to go to a permanent supply to my satnav to get rid of trailing wires.

Getting the rest of the trim off and the ashtray is a doddle but I'm reluctant to start taking the whole console out just to do to this.

I've tried just firking it out but presumably its got spring lugs on which need to be got at from behind.

Other than that, are there any wires easily got at behind the radio trim which have constant on power?

To be honest your just as quick taking the centre console out i tried the same but to no avail,so took console out ,well you just need to undo the screws then lift up enough to access the wires.

I can't seem to find any screws, where are these located?

If memory serves correctly from when I fitted my jumbo box, there is one screw either side of the centre dash which needs to come out first - this lets you remove the 2 carpeted sections.

They are in the footwell area, about half way between the dash and the bulk head, so you'll need to be on your knees armed with a philips screwdriver to get them off.

Once they're out, take out the carpeted sections - they are quite tricky to remove until you realise how they actually fit (at least that's what I found) - you need to kind of push them back towards the bonnet, as there are 3 metal clips on each which pushes into the foam of the centre dash.

Once they're out, carefully prise the gear stick surround off and you'll see 2 torx screws - take these out and the centre bit now lifts up.
