Shock absorbers on Octavia

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Octavia Elegance 2 and half years old, 32,000 miles on the clock.

I've found that the actual shock absorbers are getting very soft and driving wise the car is getting very skitchish on bumps. Has anyone else with an Octavia had the same problem? If so, does anyone know if the warranty cover this?

Has anyone uprated their shock absobers, if so let me know what type?

Thanks

Hi Martin,

A number of us have uprated our shocks (there are threads on this subject) if you want to find out what we have done. It all depends on what you want to achieve when uprating your shocks. I would suggest your first option would be to take the car to a dealer and let them have a looks at it. It sounds like you could have a faulty damper, which should be covered by warranty?

My motor is a '99 1.6 estate, not quite the 'hottest' car on the planet, but very practical family transport. I'm just on 35000 miles and can identify with your comments, and just on the point of 'maybe' doing something about it. At 31/2 years I'm not in line for any warranty assistance. I'd be interested to learn how your situation develops, please keep us posted.

Thanks

Paul
