Heatshield-Fixing-Problems-B-Gone

I'm sure that you've already though of this, but being a heat shield means it might get hot, so won't your plastic devices soften and fall off?

No need to worry as the sections of heatshield we are concerned with don't get hot.

Why is this in Octavia 1 ????

Um, so Octavia 1 owners could know about the fix too. ;)

I reasoned it was highly likely the VAG group would use similar (crappola) fixings across their range of cars and therefore not only Fabia owners would be hit by this problem.

Hadn't expected '?x4' hostility though.

Thats not hostility it's a fair question :) and yes your probably right about the fixings being generic

I wasn't being hostile, just asking what I thought was a fairly reaonable question - heatsheat = hot

Hot plastic = puddle of melted plastic

Thats all!

They may work ok at the moment, but I suspect that on a hot day stuck in traffic, that will go soft and fall off, but what do I know I only test the stuff all day for a living!

I know you weren't being hostile.

My comment was aimed at Beretta (geddit?) and I didn't really think he was particularly hostile anyway.

My cybertongue was pressed gently against my cybercheek (perhaps should have used a ), though '?x4' was a waste of ?s.

I really doubt the caps will melt.

Although they are holding up a heatshield, they are located on the cool periphery.

And if they do, I'm no worse off than I was before.

Do you really test plastic all day for a living?

Yes, afraid so. Not just plastic though, could be anything polymeric from an inhaler to a cup holder with a couple of fighter plane cockpit seals thrown in for good measure.
