Milotec grilles and CAI

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying some grille mesh for the lower grilles so it looks like the Milotec ones, but am worried if i replace them that more water will get at the CAI filter. I'm thinking more of spray from passing lorries than deep puddles. Can you please reassure me :)

If your worried, could you make a st/steel shield to fit just in front of the filter to deflect the water??

Not had a problem yet even in some very heavy showers  My biggest concern was the horn and connections getting spayed but I have moved the horn slighty to remove it from the intake path to protect it from the elements as much as possible

Ian i got the same filter as you. I had to relocate my horn once when i fitted the FMIC but when i got this beast of a filter i had to relocate again. The horns are nearly in the boot now lol.

Not a bad idea Oz, i wonder how it would look from outside through the grilles though.

Milotec grill set on ebay at the mo, not mine but seen it yesterday. the upper and 3 lowers

Just take the plastic grille housing out and drill out the triangle bits, finish with a file and it will then look like the intercooler side...

Never had a problem with mine

The reason for the butchery is i want to show the FMIC off a bit more and think maybe just doing the middle one would look weird, opinions on that too please.

I started doing this the other day:thumbup:.

I was selling those, and they went for £90 in the end - they came off my old mk1  also have a front strut brace on there too.....

As for the mesh - I had it on my car for about 2 years with no problems with rain/puddles ect

Had mine for nearly 18 months now no issue with my CAI. I also cut out the triangle plastic part to let more air though to the filter. Been through quite a few puddles and water spray and no issues.

Trouble is if you cover the filter too much you stop good cold air getting to it.

Never had an issue myself with Milotec grilles and a Carbonio CAI
