Tyre wear

Featured Replies

I fitted a full set of 225/45/17 gsd3's about a year ago(5000 miles) and have noticed that the rear have got very noisy.Just looked and ran my hands around the tread and they appear to have flat spots on them like a fifty pence piece..The tyre has gone out of shape.

Will get 4 wheel alignment done tommorrow but looks like i will need a pair of new tyres.

Its a 4x4 1.8 turbo.

Any ideas?

My rear tyres are due for renewal as they are down to 2mm and the wear is fairly even across the width and around the circumference. 5000 miles in a year isn't a lot. Does it get used everyday or has it been sat for extended periods?

Used everyday.Only about 15 miles a day though.Fronts have lost 3mm one rear has lost 4mm the other has no outside edge and is shaped like a 50 pence piece, you can feel the flat spots all the way up to the center of the tyre. But still has only 4mm wear on the other half the tyre.

best to get it looked at by a tyre fitters that does full alignment.

The last set of GY NCT5's I had on my 4x4 only did under 10k - just plain worn out. The most I've ever gotten out of a set was about 16k - before the remap. Hopefully the current set of Bridgestones will last a bit longer as a new set every year (I only do about 10k a year) is not making me popular with swmbo

I have similar issues with mine wearing every other tread block on inside edge of the rear tyres :-(
