aux-in and oem bluetooth kit

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 octy vrs equipped with audience + soundsystem + oem bluetooth kit + maxidot. With all that kit one would think it's all set and done.. alas it's not!

There's a problem which I've found with 2 different phones at least. When I'm listening to radio or cd and the phone rings the bluetooth kit nicely turns down the radio or pauses the cd and puts the call into the speakers. All fine and dandy.

BUT if I have a music source connected to AUX-in (3.5mm plug inside jumbo box) it connects the call and silences the music source but I can't hear the call. But the opposite side can hear me! At first I thought it was a problem with using my old nokia E71 for the phone and having ipod connected to the aux-in, but now I'm using an Iphone 3g and the same thing happens!! And I know for sure the iphone stops the internal ipod application when a call comes in.

Furthermore if I try to make a call out, with either of those setups mentioned earlier, the kit announces a phone call is being made (through the speakers loud and clear). And then it patches through the call - but again I can't hear the opposite side whilst they can hear me.

Has anyone else ran into this with their oem bt kits? Have you found any solution for it?

It's quite annoying not being able to fully utilize all the possibilities of either the car or the phone.. just gets my blood boiling!!

I am sure its been on here before. The problem is caused because the aux-in and bluetooth kit share some of the headunits internal circuitry. This is why kufatec say that some of their aftermarket kits are not compatible if you have fitted the oem bluetooth.

Guess that kind of wraps it all up. No dice son, you've got to work late...

Truly a shame it's like that.. Guess I'll go through the iPhone's accessory lists and see if there's a possibility for a wired handsfree solution where I could lead the sound through car speakers via Aux. That way I'll only lose the maxidot display functionality (which isn't 100% great since there was no multifunction steeringwheel available when I got the car).

Anyway, thanks for the info.
