Steering Rack

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2001 1.4 16v Fabia with a TRW steering rack.

For some time now it's been losing power steering fluid. We had it looked at and the mechanic said that the clip on the end of the gaitor was leaking, and replaced it. This fixed it for a while, but it has recently become more of an issue. My dad looked at it earlier and found a split in the gaitor that comes out onto the track arm (drivers side).

What I am hoping is that I can replace the gaitor rather than the steering rack as an easy fix to get it through its upcoming MOT. If anyone knows if this can be done or knows where the parts can be got I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance, Joe.

there should not be any fluid inside the rack gaitors

you require a new rack

I know this, but am not going to keep it for much longer, I just want to cover up the leak for the MOT. I was hoping desperatly I could just swap the gaitors over to stop it being visible.
