Which Oil Filter for MK2 VRS PD

Featured Replies

Need to get an Oil Filter as i'm going to change the Oil in the car.Already got a bargain on Castrol Edge from ebay.

Was wondering is it better to get a replacement oem filter or get an after market one?

Where's the best place to go and do K&N do oil filters?(any good)

The OEM filter would be sufficient mate, i would get a genuine VAG oil filter though.

I bought a third party part for my PD105 and after 7k the filter was starting to distort and become weak :(

I always use the proper manufacturer's filters, I've seen too many Fram/Elcheapo filters fail.

Appreciate the advice. With that in mind i will go to the skoda garage and get a genuine VAG one.

Thanks

Fram was the brand i was using....i've currently got one of there fuel filters in at the moment. Soon will be replaced with a genuine one.

Fram was the brand i was using....

Welsh crap tbh. Their air filters are junk too.

It did have one of those in too

When the turbo sheared off and smashed to smitherines, the guy doing it put genuine oil and filter in and a airfilter at the same time at cost. So i wasn't too fussed as i was getting a service for around £35 LOL

??????????????????

I've used FRAM filters over the years on:

- Mulitiple XUD & XUDt with mileages from 150-250k mile

- Various Fiesta

- A MK IV Golf with over 150k miles.

All have been fine and all the filters have been in no worse condition than the OEM ones were after their specified life.

All of the cars in question had the engines in excellent condition too, even the 250k mile cars.

The reason I use OEM is because I get them for the same price as aftermarket ones and I know the flow rate is good.

Depending on how long I can keep getting the OEM ones that are not made in china, depends on how long I keep using OEM.

IMHO the parts made in china are of a much lower quality than those made in europe, with the air filters being a poor fit and the oil filters looking of a much less sturdy construction.

To answer the K&N oil filter question, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Use Mann Filters

As with Mann, Fram are OE manufacturers. VAG will not manufacture their filters, but purchase form companies who do, such as Mann, Fram, Knecht etc.

Fram filters are entirely suitable and certainly not Welsh c**p. Indeed the name is owned by an Italian company for Europer and Fiamm, Coopers, Crosland, Purflux being other trading names.

They make filters across Europe.............
