Bluetooth muppet question

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Just ordered a shiny new VRS limited edition and looking to get bluetooth installed. very confused by various threads on here as I have no technical knowledge really.

I will have the bolero touchscreen CD player and the maxidot display and I would like it to integrate with that if possible.

The dealer has offered me an aftermarket solution which does not do this.

Cheers in advance

Hi,

the Kufatec module has the advantage of managing SMS too and enable new gauges on the Maxidot, but I'm not sure if manages automatic muting, too.

HTH

I got one of these installed with mine:

VW Golf Mk5/6 / Skoda / Seat MFD2 RNS 510 Premium Bluetooth kit

This one is Sim Access Protocol, but if you have an older / non compatible phone you can get the standard.

It essentially IS a mobile phone, which, via bluetooth, connects to your phones SIM card and uses its own aerial. You get full phone book and call list access and SMS messages appear nicely for reading on the MaxiDot. It also has voice tags etc if you need em, not great ones though.

It will also mute the radio (obviously) and allow you to choose ring tomes etc

HOWEVER, whilst connected you can’t use your phone, which may or may not be a hassle for you. I have found no way to connect my car to it using a normal headset protocol, which would obviously allow for ‘proper’ voice dialling and accessing of emails etc.

I had to get one of these as I could not bear to have a ‘phone’ button on the Bolero unsused!

Did you fit this to the pre facelift or post facelift Octy maxidot?

EDIT: Ah sorry see you have bolero so must be the face lift model.

It's a vRS Limited Ed.

The dealer fitted it for me, along with rear bumper beepers; which of course aren't Bolero integrated, but still cool.

Main unit fits under passenger seat and connects to rear of Bolero via (iirc) 6 single pin wires.

It would fit in a preface lift car with maxidot too, also if you installed the Bolero or Columbus it would integrate with that.

Does this one work with the Bolero radio?

Thanks

Yes as ithe Bolero is just a Skoda branded RCD 510. It will also work with the new version of Maxidot as found in the VRS LE.

Cool!

The reason Micky was asking whether it was for a facelift car or not is because this is an A version and he's ordered one too. The problem is, we now think the A might not work on pre-facelift / pre-LE cars Maxidot and the B might have been a better choice.

I have seen threads through google where the B version works ok on the red GTI maxidot display, which is the same as the older maxidot on the Octy. According to the seller i'm getting mine off, he claims they stopped making the B version last december and that A was the "newer" one that replaces B. If that is true then A should work on older maxidot displays. There is a good chance mine is arriving today so will know later:O.

Does anyone know if the iphone bluetooth works good on the columbus?

Sweet mate. I'm very keen to know how it goes so I can decide which to order.

I believe the iPhone works well with these GSM2 kits, unlike the RSAP GSM3.

All will be revealed very soon :D

Ok, I fitted the A bluetooth module. It works perfect on the columbus but not on the maxidot. Unless it needs to be coded i don't know as it paired as volkswagen, will have vagcom later to play with and see. To be honest it's great on the MFD3 that i doubt i'd miss the maxidot anyway.

Glad you've sorted it :D

Bit weird about the Maxidot issue, seeing as that was it's primary display function to start with! You'd have just thought they would have simply 'added' the Columbus screen interface with this revision. Weird

Has anyone fitted one of these kits to a facelifted car without a MFSW?

I ask because I am curious about the voice dialling function and if it can be used without the MFSW.

nope it cant, unless you go and buy a handset holder with the voice button but it only fits a certain number of phones. dont think anyone on here has tried fitting one either
