replace timming belt and water pump

Featured Replies

Hello all

i was lookin at the service history book of my car which i got it used a month ago with 39,000Km and i saw it had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 27,000 Km !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do these parts ever fail before the recommended time by skoda to replace ??

the car has now 41,000km

when do i have to replace them ?

How old is the car? Skoda recommends it is changed at 4 year intervals whatever the mileage.

it is a 2005 model

Unless the original belt got contaminated, I can't see any reason why a 2005 car on 40_000km would have a new belt on 27_000. That said, even under the most conservative belt change regime I've seen, a new belt fitted at 27_000 would be good for 4 years/64_000km (whichever's first) from that date/mileage, so I'd guess the new belt's good for 2 or 3 years (dependant on exact date of change).
