A quick introduction:

I live in Ireland and have a 1.9 PD 2005 Octavia II for the past month or so. Previous car was a year 2000 1.6 Octavia, which I also found fantastic.

I chose the Octavia for two reasons -

1. It can carry 4 bicycles and 2 people or 3 bikes and 3 people effortlessly - I'd have to move to Mondeo/Vectra size to get a similar carrying capacity from other manufacturers.

2. It drives beautifully - the old Octavia was no slouch, but the independent rear suspension has made it even better through the bends and on cut up Irish roads. Also the TDi practically runs on air :)...

Nothing much done to the car yet apart from wiring a switch into the radio to allow me to switch between an mp3 player and the CD changer - still wondering if it's possible to turn off the CD changer without the radio flagging it as missing to save on wear...

I'll fit a detachable towbar in about a week's time when it arrives mail order too.

Thinking of a professional remap to 130bhp at some stage too, as much for even better fuel economy as for the extra power :)...
