Temperature regulating Flap Motor has failed in my B5 Passat, I've looked around and can not find any threads for this failure in a Superb here - or a B5 Passat in another forum. So, is there any chance that I can turn contortionist and change this without taking the dashboard out?

I've already got Haynes for USA and UK models - but I can't see how to download a copy of Bentley FOC - and that does not surprise me - unless I am doing something wrong. It's really someone's personal experience of doing this job "DIY" style that I am looking for as time wise all VAG advice would be "dash out"!

I had this problem last year, its a dash out job and was costly, from what he told me it would be difficult as a DIY job

I had a similar problem on my beloved '97 Audi A6. if it's the same (or almost) you can see the bit but can't get to the mounting screws - so I have to agree - it's a big dash out job - and cost me around £800 some 3 years ago. I think parts were around £60.............

Thanks folk, sob sob, I've ordered the flap motor - it was £100 inc VAT and will think about this for a while - so you can see the motor but can't remove it - now there is a challenge! (or something to get angry about when it turns to poo!) If it makes any differance I do intend to chop up the single din radio insert and fit a double din cage - would doing that make access any easier?
