Reflection into "overdue for mowing" lawn. :)

All done using Kestrel DAS6 on "maximum impact" mode.

Very nice job

I would really love to get myself one of these machines, but I'm just a bit scared I would do more harm than good :o

I bet your well pleased with the end results, and rightly so

Cheers

Damian

aha !.........a silver Fabia machine polished

can i asked what you used and how hard you found the paint etc

  • Author

Used - Kestrel DAS6 with Sonus 1 pad (toughest) and Menzerna power finish (toughest)

Paint was a BARSTEWARD! Proper tough! The bonnet and boot were the worst and still not right (hence no before & after shots.... )

Shall be attacking those soon. Did 1 coat of collinite on the sides, and 2 on bonnet & roof. Wheels given 1 coat of jetsal 109. However, they were not cleaned properly (just did faces) so when I can be bothered, the car will be put on axle stands so I can clean & seal the wheels properly.

is power finish the old intensive polish ?.........or is it power gloss ?

i presume you used spot pads on the pillars ?.........normal sized pads on the bonnet etc ?

Damn I wish I knew enough abou this machine polishing lark to have a go at mine... it's covered in swirls and stuff. I hate it!

Looks great Jason.

Well done mate.

Get some Bilt Hamber Auto Balm.

Great stuff

if you dont have a machine to do it, use something like Auto Glym Super Resin, or Poorboys White Diamond/Black Hole which will fill some of the swirls and hide them

I agree with Brun with AG SRP even though I use it with my G220. Its great. Got a big tub of it so using it uo before I try other polishes.

I used a full size pad on the B pillars. I had masked off the rubber, so was no issue with overlapping a bit. :)

looks great! mines all swirled, would love to machine buff it but i would probable make my red car a nice primer grey!

was the product you used intensive polish or was it power gloss ?

not sure on the latest names of the menzerna stuff

  • Author

"Power Finish" was the name. The strongest gunk out of the 3 bottles I was supplied. Described as "Swirl remover" - but on VAG paint it is still tough work. I wouldn't be worried about using this strong combo in future.

As I said on your DW link Jason, good work but boy have you changed..........

will have to find out which that is, not sure whats what with the new names on things

how many passes did it take and how long on each area did you do

  • Author

Two passes, and quite a bit of time, I would say 5 minutes of concentrated effort per pass on an area relatively small (was doing smaller areas at a time due to the heat)

I've got a kestrel..what do you mean by 'maximum impact" mode.'

thanks for all the info mate

Using the above gunk & pad. Strongest of each = maximum impact mode.
