Hi, there are a couple common fault threads on here but I'm at work so can't find them for ya right now, but if you search I'm sure they'll show up :)

common fault all four door seals leak so look for signs of wet seats or footwells ;)

alternatively if you really want a "faster" VRS i believe theres a fully modified 250BHP version for sale around here somewhere

Or you could buy an octavia vrs, if you wanted a faster vrs... :D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

cheers pastyboy but im ideally looking for a completely standard one so i can do it all myself and feel the difference from putting a box on etc

Just wanting to know if you would reccomend anything else to watch out for?

should there be a cambelt change after so many miles etc..

and do miles matter, people keep telling me diesels go on forever, is this right?

How they have been driven is more important, a high mileage one that has gently cruised the motorways will not be as worn out as a low mileage one thats been ragged to near death.

Cambelts due at 60,000 miles and not too expensive to have done.

Sold my Fab VRS at 70,000 miles and had no problems at all, great cars.....
