Days detailing - Mk1 Superb

Featured Replies

Now that the car is finally repaired to my satisfaction and I have given it a couple of weeks for the paint to harden off (just in case) I spent the day giving the boat a full on detail. In case any one is interested, process and products used as follows;

- Wheels using Bilberry and agitated with various brushes;

- Arches using Chem Guys Orange Degreaser and Megs APC;

- Tyres with APC;

- Megs Bug Bugger sprayed on front end to get the bugs off. Pressure washed off;

- VP Orange Pre Wash sprayed all over the bottom half of the car to get the stuck on muck off. Pressure washed off;

- Valet Pro Snow foam over whole car and left to dwell. Used some detailing brushes on window seals and other sopts where dirt gets stuck;

- Washed with TBM using Megs Gold Class and Megs wash mitt;

- Dried off using waffle weave towel and Megs Last touch as drying aid;

- Clayed lower sections of car to make sure no contaminents;

- Auotglym SRP applied to whole car using megs applicator pad;

- Serious Performance FK1000p applied using applicator pad. This stuff is amazing. I was applying in heat and it was still best product to apply and take off I have ever used;

- Final spray down and wipe with Megs last touch;

- Aerospace 303 on plastics, trim and engine bay.

Burnt my neck and arms as forgot to put any cream on but I am pleased with results. Any comments welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Very nice :thumbup:

A lot of hard work has gone into that finish. No mechanical aid ? or was this not needed.

John

Cheers, for commenting. No mechanical aid used as I dont have a DC or orbital. Never used one before. I have used above wash method since I got the car to eliminate swirls from the start. SRP does a great job of sorting any light swirls that might appear.

Hadnt really thought about it to be honest. I did see the post about it a while back but will check out when it is and get back to you on that. Plus not sure where Gaydon is. Is it past Nothampton?

You should come along, there is plenty to do at Gaydon and if the weather is nice it will be an awesome day, the more cars the better at the event, have you seen the link to it?

From Kent it will take you around 2.5 hours and it's near Leamington / Warwick / Banbury just off the M40.........:thumbup:
