My new TT alloys

Featured Replies

Went up to North Wales the other day to pick up my new alloys :)

There's still quite a bit of tread left on the tyres so I'll be keeping them on for a while, and when I need new ones I'll get a lower profile tyre I think coz the ones on there at the moment are 205/55/16, think il probs get 45 when I get em changed.

I could be miles off but; if they are the wrong profile it might throw the speedo out a bit if the rolling raduis is different.

Look nice by the way. Lovely bit of the world you live in!

You'll be going faster than the speedo indicates with the larger diameter wheel.

It shouldn't be out by much tho should it?

Could just use a satnav to track the speed?

Looks nice mate. The missus was in Newquay today and saw this.

nice one kiddo just get the low profile and then slam it :) (altho thats my answer to everything :P )

The difference is quiet substantial and with the current tyre size you could easily get yourself a speeding ticket. At 60MPH indictated you will be travelling at nearly 65MPH, with the difference getting greater the faster you go. At 70 to 80mph indicated you could well be into 6 point territory if you get caught.

Use this calculator,

put in the old tyre size of you orignal wheels and then the new size of these audi ones to see the difference.

:o I was thinking it would be like 1/2 a mile an hour out! Cheers for the link bud! I'll just make sure to drive a bit slower for now until I get my new tyres.

Just compared my two wheel sizes:

"When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually travelling 63.7 mph"!!

Still something to keep in mind though, as its still quiet a difference. its quiet possible with that difference to trip a 40mph gatso if you forget about the error and drive at an indicated 40.

Yeah I didn't think it would be that much of a difference tbh, like I said before I only expected it to be like 1/2 a mph out, but it's 3.7! I think I might just get the correct tyre size then, what with all the bloody speed cameras round my area

I would be more concerned about arch rub / suspension rub, with the wrong profile tyres on. Get them changed a.s.a.p. :) Otherwise though, it looks good.

Those wheels look so much better than the old ones my friend!
