Parott ck3100 install

Featured Replies

I really need some help on this install.

I've had this booked in twice - 1st time was cancelled after waiting for an hour "as they had the wrong connector" 2nd time on saturday and was told after an hour again "theres no where to put the control box":mad:

So Balls to that i brought a new ck3100 kit and a SOT.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This lead is designed to interface between the radio and the radio harness. It provides a power and earth supply to the handsfree kit and route the phone audio through the cars front speakers. No vehicle cables need to be cut.

Autoleads SOT-976 Parrot Lead is compatible with the following vehicles:

  • Skoda Fabia (2005 onwards)
  • Skoda Octavia (2004 onwards)
  • Skoda Roomster (2006 onwards)
  • SkodaSuperb (2006 onwards)

The SOT-976 mute lead features original Fakra quadlock connectors on each end of the wiring harness, plus a pair of male and female ISO connectors in the centre of the harness.

After reading loads of threads on here i'm in need of help.

I'm willing to pay someone or if someone can give me help i.e connecting the wires etc to get this to work. I have had the head unit out and i can put the blue connecting box probably behind the a/c unit or behind the ash tray.

I'm due a service soon and if i cant get this working the dealer will be my only hope so please help as i've given up on asking for so called profesional fitters.

I live in coventry/Birmingham (NEC).

Hi,

I just fitted one of these to my Fabia last weekend, it's dead easy!

You are bound to have ISO fitting in the Octy (MK1?) so no need for a wiring harness. basically it's just a case of unplugging the cables that run into the back of you headunit and plugging them into the female adapter on the parrot wiring harness, you then take the male connectors from the parrot wiring harness and plug those back into the back of the headunit. They will only fit in one way around so you can't go wrong. As for the mute cable on mine it was mute cable 2 that needed to be connected up, but as this is a simple push pull connector if you get it wrong you can always change it (you will know it’s in wrong because it won’t mute the radio when you receive a call). Then it's just a case of plugging all the bits into the blue control box, again you can only do it one way around, they won't fit in any other way.

I strongly advise pulling all the cables out plugging it all in and testing it before you lay and of the cables, then you can be 100% sure you have it the right way around and working. The hardest part I came across was trying to fit all the cables and control box back in behind the headunit; it's a really tight fit in the Fabia.

This is the link for the wiring diagram with you may find of some help too:

http://www.parrot.com/documents/en/support/schemasdinstallation/pdf/Pin%20out%20Skoda2.pdf

But all in all I don’t think it is possible to plug any of the cables in the wrong way around, so trial and error my well be your friend.

Any specific questions then post them up and I’ll see if I can help .

ive just fitted the parrot ck3200 to my mk1 octavia vrs and as above its simple enough to do, the original wirin plug that goes to the bk of your stereo plugs into the parrot then that plugs into your stereo. but also as above i wud fit and try before everything goes back together just incase lol. i took my glove box out and put the control box behind there as there is not a lot of room behind the head unit.

1) It's got to be a MK II Octy if it's a 2.0 TDI  This means no ISO but only CAN connectors.

2)To the OP:

Don't use the adapter cable.

Putting the parrot in is really easy and all you need to do is get a dealer or DIY run an earth a live and a switched live from the fuse box to the parrot unit. Then run the audio out cables into a small green connector (from a dealer) on the back of the audio unit.

The parts bill for these will be much less than that connector and you won't end up with a tonne of cables rattling around. Also you will have to run a switched live from the fuse box anyway if you want the unit to turn itself off as the car does not have a switched live.

Those who mentioned Mk1 Octys a furbys... the OP's car is a MkII Octy.

I'm liking your solution a lot - the HU volume then controls the Parrot output as well I'm guessing, if so that's better than using the ISO solution Parrot intend you use.

What's the sound quality like using this method? Good enough to warrant an upgrade to a Parrot with BT audio streaming?

Yeah init..

Sorry but I've never seen a good hands free fitting from Halfords. All they do it use the autoleads and they leave a bundle of cables to rattle. Even with those they would still have to run a switched earth from the fuse box and quite frankly I don't want them bodging anything into my fuse box when I can have it done with the correct leads for a pittance.

Sound quality is good, in as far as any BT solution is good. I forget if it's stereo or mono.

Yes the parrot and HU have control over the volume so you can use either. I just set the parrot to the level I like, set the phone default on the headunit and use the HU to adjust up and down if needed.

Cool, thanks. I think I'll try a dry run with my CK3100 and if that is successful I might invest in one of those whizzy MKi models - unless of course the dealer can get my Audience to support switching the aux port on while they have the car today. Unless this is a cold day in Hell I'm not expecting that to happen however.

I'd also echo the avoid Halfords fitting sentiment for what it's worth - that's not from experience but because there is no way I'd let a shop worker with limited tools and no formal training do anything to my car in the middle of a car park. Unless there's a new Ibiza since I left the UK that doesn't use ISO and that is what you have then your experience is not relevant to the Octy II anyway, Bachu.

Well i had my kit fitted - never again!

Took it to an auto electrician:mad: who shall remain namless as it took 4 hours:eek:. I lost cd and my mp3 function as it wasn't connected and the display was stuck on the dash board for all the scroats to see.

So i rerouted it all, reconnected my cd, mp3, blue a fuse and snapped the aerial that connects to the back of the head unit (see new thread).

Just had cruise control fitted at unit 18 - took ali 10 minutes to fit and then needed vag.com setting

I'm neally happy just need the bloody radio sorting and then i can relax.

Which Aux port are you talking about?

The Audience doesn't have the central Aux jack as far as I'm aware but it does have an Aux connection on it according to the Menu.

There is also a TEL input so you don't need the AUX to input the phone kit and I used this TELl input.

What's your problem with your Aux?

My Audience has the menu option to enable Aux, but when I set Aux to 'on' in the menu I still can't select it as a source by pressing the CD button twice. I started another thread about that at the weekend.

If I can get that to work then I'll just wire in a 3.5mm socket (I have one ready to go with the white plug to go into the quadlock and everything) and then just use the CK3100 for phone. Otherwise adding one of the Parrot MKi models would give me BT phone plus Aux-in, with the added bonus of being able to stream music over Bluetooth from my iPhone or use my iPod Classic by cable to the dock connector.

The dealer said they found a fault with the stereo when they had the car yesterday and are asking Skoda to honour a warranty claim as it is only 2 weeks out of manufacturer warranty, but as they couldn't adjust the headlight aim like I asked them to (though they thought that they did, apparently) I don't hold out much hope they have a clue what they are doing, especially as they seem to think it's related to a steering wheel button. I actually only asked them if there was a firmware update that might fix what I assumed is a bug in the software that runs the HU.

It's back on Monday for a DSG fluid change as by the time I had explained to them why I wasn't going to pay even half of the $800 cost to do it on a car I had bought from them only 5 days previously they didn't have time to do it yesterday, so I'll see what is what with the Aux-in then.

I think sometime in 2007 a factory Aux port was added with the Audience, at least on cars with the jumbo box option, but mine is a 2006.

Picking up on the TEL inputs, they are in the green connector I believe(?) - what triggers the HU to switch to the phone, just a signal on the TEL pins, or is there another pin that needs to be connected to trigger it? I don't have the pinout diagram to hand so sorry if it's obvious from that.

  • 1 year later...

How and where has everyone mounted their controls please?

Mine was originally velcro'd on, but my son ripped it off so trying to think of a better idea as its currently resting with the dials are so I cannot see the screen

I dont want to drill or cut holes as I want to be able to return the car to standard eventually. I am thinking 3M tape is going to be my best bet
