Rust!

Featured Replies

Has found rust on their tailgate on a Fabia hatch or estate in the area above the number plate and had a claim accepted on a car over three years old?

I've just had a claim rejected as SUK reckon it's poor paint adhesion and so not covered by the anti corrosion warranty, only by the 3 year paint warranty which has expired as the car is now 5 years old.

There is also a blister at the bottom of the front wing just in front of the sill which they have rejected on the same basis - poor adhesion. Looks like the beginings of rust coming from the back of the wing to me.

I should add that we have owned this car for 3 years and these "blemishes" have just appeared in the last month so if SUK are correct, perhaps the rest of the paint is suddenly going to part company with the car and this is just the begining.

If it's poor paint adhesion, then it must have been that way when it was painted at the factory. Why it would take more than 3 years to lift and rust doesn't make any sense.

I would have an independent body shop survey the damage and get a written report.
