AMD One click back to standard

Featured Replies

Hi, i read that the AMD one click uploads the orginal ecu information when you turn it back to standard, would this mean it is undetectable everytime you turn it back to standard, as if had never been on there

I know the honest john way but if it was undetectable then i would not tell my insurance and just turn it off for all relevent times (if i had a prang or something, servicing etc)

cheers

ps i know this is in the wrong forum, however it did not seem to grab any attention in the AMD forum

I believe so.

But I'd still tell your insurance co.

I dont think not telling your insurance Co is a good idea... e.g if you have a prang are you going to have 3-4mins to change the ECU over?

What if you are unable to upload the original software. Your insurance would be completely null and void. I would say that when you look at a mod, you should factor in the added insurance premium as part of it. If you cannot afford the whole package, then don't do it at all. I know that when I eventually get to jabba next year, it's gonna cost me in the region of

In addition to your insurance being nul and void, under the Road Traffic Act it is an offence to make a false statement, or to withhold any material information, for the purpose of obtaining the issue of a certificate of insurance. Be responsible and don't do it.

Without causing offence, my original question was, is it undetectable when you uploaded the original mapping of the ECU

Why not ask AmD? As for its use being undetectable, I believe that the ECU stores a considerable amount of information relating to the engine which dealers can interrogate with their diagnostic equipment. For example stored rpm and boost readings might well be outside those expected of an engine with the standard map.

Ross did say in the ordiginal posts on Briskoda that it did wipe the codes after it re-loads so that its undetectable when its back with your standard code??? not sure if they can check the checksums and know if the upload has changed... surpose it depends if it is "cloned" ask Ross or check with AMD /

Just as a note, no dealer as far as I know would have the equipment to read checksums, let alone have anyone there who would be able to understand them. Skoda UK on the other hand may be a different kettle of fish.
