Does my vRS have xenons?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Need some advice here. I have recently bought a 2008 Octavia vRS which I absolutely adore.

Having got familiar with the car I am of the opinion that the previous owner has kept the car in basic spec and thus additional extras are down to a minimum.

For example there is no Cruise, Auto lights/dimming mirror, reversing sensors etc.. All the luxuries I can quite happily live without anyway.

What I would like to know is do I have Xenon's? I have no washer jets fitted on the bumper so is that an indication that I have standard lights fitted? The bulbs from the lenses have a blueish beam but that could be standard or even uprated bulbs I guess.

How do I determine whether I have xenons or not?

Cheers

Edd

You would definately have washers if they were xenons (factory fit that is) and I dont think you can retro fit.

It is more likely that it has non standard bulbs to give the blueish colour.

Hi there,

Take a look at your light adjustment dial under the steering wheel (on the right).

If you have dial for both instrument illumination adjustment(left) and headlight adjustment (right) then, you have Halogen. If you have only left adjustment, you have xenons.

Regards,

Kmvrs

You definitely don't have factory fit Xenons. I guess the blue tint could be uprated bulbs or perhaps even a HID (Xenon) kit.

If you catch the halogen beams at their cutoff point they can give a blue tint. Xenons/HiD lamps some on with a flash and change colour slightly as they warm up over 10 seconds or so. If you have any kind of aftermarket kit fitted to the car there will be some extra wiring and a few ballasts lying around under the bonnet.
