Loose Parking Sensor

Featured Replies

Just a new slant on an old topic....

Put the car into reverse this evening and heard prolonged beep - thankfully not the death beep indicating a dodgy sensor - but a beep indicating something behind the car. Got out to find that the only thing the sensors were detecting was the bumper itself.

One of them has actually come loose and is hanging about 1cm behind the black rub strip. I've seen the fitting that the sensors sit into - how does this anchor to the rub strip?

Does it glue onto the rub strip or are there fastners/clips involved?

Any replies appreciated,

Joe T

PS - exact same thing happened on my previous Mondeo - I'm starting to think parking sensors are more hassle than they are worth....

Mine did exactly the same thing the other day.

Managed to put it back in place and all sorted now.

I did it as follows for the parking sensor located offside rear:

1. Look behind the back wheel and you will find a moulded plastic piece that is connected to the rear bumper by several screws;

2. Undo these screws and there are x2 10mm nuts to remove as well;

3. Remove the plastic trim and then put your hand in and feel for the parking sensor;

4. Put it back in place (yes it is that easy);

5. I then put some duck tape over the back of the sensor to hold it in place to stop a repeat performance;

6. Work backwards from step 3 to 1;

Hey presto, all done - took me 40 minutes, but I was not working quickly.

Hope this helps.

Are parking sensors more hastle? Try parking the same car when you don't have the benefit of parking sensors and then ask yourself the same question.
