"Stinger" Aerial Removal?

Featured Replies

I seem to have a duff connection from the aerial. For the past couple of weeks the radio has been dreadful - virtually no signal. Tonight I gave the aerial a good waggling and reception was back to normal for half an hour - then it went completely off again.

From which I deduce I have a poor connection between the aerial and lead to the radio - or possibly a break in the aerial itself, which has an external winding. Any other ideas?

I've never taken the aerial off when going through car washes, so it has been pretty stressed. My excuse is that I have no idea how to take it off - if you unscrew it it just flops backwards and forwards. What's the trick? It's not in the handbook.

Is it possible to remove the whole aerial assembly from the outside, or do you have to drop the headlining? If the former I'll have a go myself; if the latter, it's a trip to the stealers....
