Newbie Octavia II questions

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am new to Skoda and the forum to so hi to all.

It is a 57 plate Octavia vRS Diesel Combi, 20k miles in Met Blue.

I have some questions I hope you can help with.

1/ Servicing - mine is on variable. It's an ex lease car and has no stamps in the book (dealer is chasing lease company for service history) Can you tell how long to the next service some how without the spanner light being set. Mine does not have the multifunction display.

2/ Autolock - how do you activate it.

3/ Retro cruise control fitment. How much does this cost and does it use manufacturers parts?

4/ Remapping - I am looking at a Bluefin with handset, but can this be transferred when you come to sell the vehicle. I had Dreamscience ffor my Focus ST and was able to get 2/3 the price back on it.

Cheers in advance

Jools

Welcome to the forum

In answer to your Questions

1. Not sure if it works the same without Maxidot. However if you press and hold the Mileage reset button with the ignition on but the engine not running after about 5 secs it tells you how long till next service

2. Without maxidot you will need VCDS. If you have this its in Central Convenience iirc

3. Best bet is speak to VRStu (who is away at the mo) or Lummox as they do retrofitting. It uses genuine VAG parts as i had mine done and will cost around £160 - £200 depending on cost of parts

4. Bluefin as far as i know can be taken from vehicle to vehicle. There are other options for remapping (i use REVO but i aint selling mine) so just do your homework before taking the plunge. Do a search on the forum and you should find the answers to all the questions you need. If not then your welcome to PM me. Or ask a question in public in the Octavia 2 section

Cheers Carl , very helpful. It seems I have 695miles to the next service. Local stealer is asking £209+VAT for the service. I asked them to check for the DPF recall and it's been done but they are not a linked servicing network so couldn't tell me anything else. The miles covered since service is 16900 so I will assume it went in for the recall and they reset the service meter then ... so well overdue a service by the sounds of it....

Off to phone the other 2 dealers in the area... and Jabbasport who are local too.

Welcome

For answers, what Carl said really :)

Was going to ask location, as a local member with VAG-COM will be able to easily enable auto-lock for you. But I see you mention Jabbasport so presume you're near Peterborough. Worth updating your profile with a location (even a rough county will do) as it helps other members see where you are and recommend more local solutions...

On the recalls and service history, any Skoda main dealer should be able to bring up some info on the car for you. Who did you ask about the DPF recall? I don't understand what you said about them not being 'linked'?

Yes in St Ives , so three dealers within 30 miles or so plus Jabba - updated my profile ;)

Phoned Wings of Peterboro who said the recall had been done. They said the the dealer servicing network for Skoda was not linked so she couldn't check if it had been in somewhere else.

Cheers Jools

If your on 20k, then it must have been done . If your around 18-19k then you could be hitting it's first service.

I'd get it done ASAP.

Phoned the supplying dealer today and they have confirmed it was serviced 500 miles ago  Seems i noobishly misread the service display:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the help
