Facelift VRS at Dennis Horton, Lincoln

Featured Replies

and the steering wheel is rank!!

Seconded. And, although I liked them in the first marketing photos that appeared (on an arctic green car), I now don't think the rear lights look as good as the old ones. Maybe I'll get used to it, but I don't think the new front end works that well with the rest of the car, it doesn't feel like a cohesive design. The shape of the doors somehow look too old next to the new front. It somehow does still work in Candy White though.

just got the mk 2 vrs limited edition and prefer it glad i didn't wait for the face lift think i would have been disappointent, not enough changes made to be honest

To be honest , i dont like it

I think the mkII is better looking , more sporty , nicer alloys

Maybe it would look better in the flesh with the 18" Zeniths on

...and about 20cm lower all round! Can't believe they'd leave the suspension chocs in in the showroom

The facelifted car is supposed to be a bit lower than the older one so I guess the suspension blocks are still in.

As for the seats, I thought two different options were now available?

Not sure on the looks of the facelift, but think it works better on the RS than the 'normal' versions. Think it looks best from head on too, so these photos probably don't do it justice.

I am undecided about the facelift, but mainly disappointed.

The wheels dont suit the car, its a sporty model with totally "un-agressive" wheels. But that said I aren't keen on Zeniths either.

The rear of the car looks ok but not too different from the mkII.

The front bumper looks awesome, I like the grille but so wish they had used the same honeycomb from the bumper in the bonnet grille, the new vRS badge looks cool too and I'm sure mkII owners will be taking a trip to the stealers to order the updated one.

As other people have said it will look rather odd with LED running lights with Halogen headlights.

The new climate control panel looks cool but as has already been said the steering wheel is really "old man"

my old man has ordered a petrol hatch vrs in race from Rainworth in mansfield. got a super deal:thumbup:

How good a "super deal"

Is it the pre facelift one or the facelifted one, would be very interested to know Stace

Have you seen these old chap :

Skoda Octavia VRS LE - a set on Flickr  not my car but the best shots I have seen on the net of the LE.

I just upgraded from a 05 Mk I vRS 1.8T Estate to the LE, I prefer the old headlights of the LE myself.

Simpsons of Preston have a couple of facelifted VRS's in. One in White, one in Race Blue. They still don't have any real details on the spec though, and no brochures.

Overall I like it better, but the interior really hasn't changed that much even with the new stereo. I like the new front end, but the rear is basically unchanged.

Skoda are claiming the facelift car is 10/15 kg lighter. Want to know how they have achieved some of that ...

... they have deleted the spare wheel :thumbdwn:

Yup, that would do it :(

I actually prefre the straighter lines of the old headlights, rather than the scuplted facelift ones. Any news on what the 18" alloys are called, these looks rather nice to my eyes.

The 18" Alloys are Neptunes - these are standard. There is a White vRS Pertrol facelift hatch also in Dundee. Guy in showroom thought they were 17" until I showed him 18" on the tyres.

Opened up the boot and as mentioned above - no spare wheel - Ive never owned a Skoda before (have ordered a Facelift Race Blue Hatch Diesel vRS - Arriving September) - Surprised it doesnt have a spare - presume Ill have to get a space saver one later!

Snap! :D I ordered mine a couple of weeks back. Was tempted to go for Candy White but played it safe in the end and went for Race Blue.

What options did you go for? I went for Light Assist, Maxidot and the MDI connection.

I'm just counting down the weeks now until September!

The space saver spare wheel is an option on the ordering system and costs about £50.

Its part of a company car scheme so I was limited by the p11d value of the car and my top end allowance - however managed to get Xeons and Maxidot. Probably could have squeezed out a spare space saver wheel! but didnt realise it wouldent have a spare already "never heard of this before".

The white one in the showroom looked fantastic. Have had a Mazda 6 TS for 4 years (now done 120K miles) my back is feeling the pain from this - New 6 was packed with options but local garage is appauling and I couldnt face another one - have wanted the vRS for 3 years - have seen spec go up, prices up, special edition come and go and now the Facelift has been launched. Really looking forward to its arrival - hope you like yours too.

According to the Skoda UK site Maxi-Dot trip computer is standard. What is the benefit of the maxi dot computer, is it like my Leon giving option to change settings, fuel economy information, etc?

Ok Guys, Having now seen the new shape in the flesh. I am going to take back most of my comments. I suppose I'd better seeing as I've just ordered one in Candy White. :D

The wheels are actually much better in the flesh and are more agressive than the photos suggest.

Still have to say the top grille should be honeycombe like the bottom one but doesnt look as bad as previously thought....

The vRS badge looks every bit as good as I thought as does the climate control panel.

The DRL's look cool in action and we ordered ours with xenons so they match that bit better.

Cant wait for the car now! Bring it on!!!

Nice one - interesting to read your comments.

How long a wait do you have?

I don't think maxi-dot is standard on the manual transmission vRS; it's a 125 quid option (a trip computer is standard but this is different from maxi-dot).

If you order a DSG-equipped car, the maxi-dot may be included along with the standard MFSW (not 100% sure about this though).

Pete its a car that's already built, the only options we picked were xenons and maxi-dot. My dealer(simpsons colne) said it should be arond 3 weeks

Hi Love the pics - just rediscovered this forum after putting in my order!, a vrs dsg tdi estate in blue. i haven't seen a new vrs in the flesh and have ordered after test driving a 1yr old model. cant wait now ive seen the showroom pics above. got to order a spare wheel too seeing as they arnt standard (crazy). for those of you whom are looking to purchase the deal i struck was better for me than the scrappage option.

if you do scrappage allowance, you cant have 0% finance and cant have 3 yrs free servicing. but if your car is worth like mine £1000, you can get 2k off the price with a little persuasion. thus you get 0% finance and 3yrs servicing for £500 difference, and theres no ticking clock with regards scrappage running out!

  • 1 month later...

I'm very dissapointed with the face lift, swept headlights dont suite the style of the car. LED's look like add ons, wheels look like bling. I'm due for a change from my mk2 vrs PD which I totally enjoy (42mpg, 400 miles, scotland/england, 2 hours A/B roads, in total 5 hours 30 mins yesterday evening) will look at one in the flesh though temped by a 123 or a ***** car.

C*ck

:OSorry didn't think I'd used a censored word, I was refering to James May's favorite word and an Audi A4. Though if a flat bottomed steering wheel was fitted to the vrs that would do it for me.
