Free Service

Featured Replies

Bought a new Octavia and with it was FREE service. Is it Free? or what has to be paid for .Is it labour free and parts oil free as well.Anyone had any experience with this

Thanks in advance:confused:

Labour and parts should be covered.

Brakes and consumable/wear and tear items will be excluded

I thought it was normal practice to service a car before a garage sells any second hand car. The only problem is if you don't do more than the service miles (i.e. 10K) on your car in a year then the service indicator may come on prematurely, but this can be easily reset. This is because they would serviced it when there was no indicator showing.

No it's not normal practice, but good garages will.

The OP is talking about the 3yr/30k free servicing deal. The car should be set to fixed, and serviced every 10k/year as per the book.

You should not reset a service count because you havent done the mileage in the year. This will void your warranty. If the service light comes on, then it needs servicing due to time, mileage or quality of oil and should not simply be reset and driven until you think it's due.

To All

I apologise about my post, I totally got the wrong end of the stick. I did not realise this thread was about this Free 3 year servicing deal for new Skodas, It was never stated by anyone that it was.

I would NEVER advise anything, intentionally, that would invalidate the Manufactures warranty.

What I was talking about was ONE free service a garage, (not necessarily a Skoda Dealer) would give before someone purchased the car. If the buyer purchased a second hand car, say 10 months (and less then 10K) after the previous service, but he had negotiated a service before the car was bought, then after 1 or 2 months the service light will come on. This is because it would be 12 months since the original service. Should he therefore have yet another service after 1 month, and less then 1,000 miles?

The whole lot is free but make sure you're on fixed. The dealer cocked up and left mine on variable.

I still got the service free but they'll only do 1 free variable service Vs 3x fixed on the deal.

If I bout a 2nd hander, I'd bag a service when it was due rather than them say they'd down one, which quite often would be a lie.
