Fixed and Variable Service Interval

Featured Replies

Have just done a oil change on variable service but when i reset service spanner it shows that it is back on fixed service (10,000). How can i change it back to variable service as its long life oil i have put in the same as what i took out?

Cheers

get main dealer to do it

I think it might be all right. I had the same on my Audi A6 as well. I took it straight back to the garage and they try to reset it few more times and on VAG it was showing that variable service interval is still enabled, but the car was showing 10000 miles until next check. It took driving for a while until computer increased the interval again ... since it is a variable interval I guess diagnostics set interval first to the same amount as if for fixed interval and adjust as appropriate based on what it detects while driving.

Thanks Guys,

Will drive car a while and see what the computer does

If you have just done an interim oil change, then no need to touch anything.

BUT, a) theres no value really in interims, and B) it messes with the variable sensors monitoring the oil.
