Springs

Featured Replies

Hi, will fitting Cobra lowering (20mm) springs to the car on Standard 33k shocks ruin the handling?

Would love the look of a lowered car but also want to drivealbility :)

I would say yes. The standard shocks aren't damped enough for uprated springs.

I fitted Weitec springs with the standard shocks & the car bounced about like a pogo stick.

Mine bounced too with H&R springs, Fsd dampers sorted it.

How much were FSD dampers? Would yuo say to steer clear of fitting just the springs then?

Hi!

I installed Koni FSD shocks, Lesjöfors "OEM"-springs, and SuperPro poly-bushes 15000 km /1 year ago.

Superb ride quality - much better than original! I "blame" the FSD's for this good ride.

But my car also became Scout-ish. From the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel-arc i measured 41,5 cm front and 39,5 rear. After 15000 km it had settled to 41cm front 38,5 cm rear. This I blame the springs.

I complained on the springs right away, and in May this year I was offered a Lesjöfors lowering kit - 35mm. I accepted the offer - and the kit was installed. I kept the FSD's, as they are approved to 35mm lowering.

Right out of the box the springs made my car 37 cm front and 35 cm rear. The ride was quite bouncy.

But as the springs now have settled a bit, the car again have got back its good composure - just at little bit harder ride. But the FSD-shocks really cope!

I am certain that std shocks would not have managed that! In my head sport springs and std shocks is a BAD idea!

So find yourself a high quality damper to use with your Cobra-springs. There is many good products out there, but I belive you will find Koni FSD's to be adequate....

Yes. I would wait & fit uprated shocks & the springs together.

I would fit uprated dampers too, they are about £450 inc delivery.
