Problems With Head Unit

Featured Replies

Hi There,

Im wondering if anyone has come accross the problem I have with my (cheap) sony xplode HU. Basically I swapped my OEM cassette player in my octy VRS for the sony HU, but since then anytime I turn the igniton off the HU never seems to save any of my settings/radio stations. Its basically wipes any saved stations or settings everytime I get out of the car :(! I have made sure all connections are correct, but Im thinking there could be an underlying issue with the HU. I dont want to have buy and new HU incase there is a fix.

Thanks

Sam

PS. Been a lurker for a while, but ended up getting to the end of my tether with the HU problem and made a post :)! Live in Edinburgh(west side) and drive a Silver Octy VRs.

try chainging over the red and yellow wires together, as that should fix the problem...

Spot on... I recently replaced my syphony head unit with an Alpine one and scratched my head for hours wondering why everything reset when I turned off the ignition.

You need to swap over the yellow and red wires as one is a constant source of power from the battery, with the other being a temporary source when the car is switched on. At the moment your head unit is set up on the temporary power, hence when you turn your car off, all of your station presets and settings will disappear. It's a bit fiddly because the wires on my unit didn't want to budge and i was afraid of destroying it, however give them a good tug and you'll be fine. 5 minute job.

Cheers guys! Ill give this a go after work :)

Its a common thing between the red and yellow, some have to have it one way, some the other. A good way to tell usually is when settings dont stay saved.
