Spare wheel help please

Featured Replies

hi all, just got home in my octi vrs tdi and having a another look round, I have noticed that the spare wheel is a different make and only R16 rim. As its a used car, my fear is they have had a puncture and put a cheap tyre in. As my car has 18" rims, I imagine this wheel is useless even as a temporary stop gap. Could anyone confirm/disconfirm before I moan at the garage please:confused:

This is the correct original spare wheel that came with the car, I have the same with my car and I've owned it from new.

The Octy VRS comes with a space saver spare, 205, 55, 16 made by Bridgestone IIRC. The overall diameter of the wheel + tyre is the same as the 18" alloy as the spare is higher profile, however the spare is slightly narrower than the normal ones and is restricted to 50mph / 80 kph (its basically a get you to the garage job).

Your lucky; 2009 models don't get a spare wheel at all, just a can of 'gunk'.

My old Civic type s had that-found it was pretty useless when a local youth had stuck a knife in my tyre:eek:
